    SAN Storage Engineer

    JRI-America (JRI-A) provides IT services for Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (“SMFG”) and its entities from our offices in the Kerry Technology Park, Tralee, as part of a global IT team with centres also in New York and London.

    We support Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC); SMBC is Japan’s second-largest bank and a Fortune Global 200 company, which offers a broad range of financial services both within Japan and internationally. JRI-A provides the IT services for the bank and wider group supporting operations across the Western Hemisphere (including the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa), while it’s parent (JRI) provides the same in Japan and across Asia.

    JRI-America Ireland Technology Development Center requires a Storage Administrator to assist in the management of EMC VMAX arrays in remote datacenters. You will be part of a global team based in London, Tralee and North America supporting storage provisioning, changes, projects and troubleshooting. We present virtualized disk to hosts via VPLEX from multiple EMC storage arrays such as VMAX & VNX. Cisco MDS SAN switches provide connectivity with Fiber Channel internally and FCIP between sites. Replication may be via SRDF, Recoverpoint, or VMware SRM. The role requires some off-shift and weekend work for project implementation, ad-hoc troubleshooting, business recovery tests and participation in an on-call rotation, either from the work site or alternate location. Ability to travel to international locations.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    ·  Working with other system administrators covering the entire storage I/O stack across platforms, applications and levels of virtualization.

    ·  Storage provisioning and related troubleshooting

    ·  Contributing to project work for installations and upgrades

    ·  Data protection, risk mitigation and automation


    Experience & Knowledge Requirements:

    Storage array management experience (minimum three years) with at least one  year managing VMAX, VPLEX, Vblock or VNX.
    Fluency in SYMCLI command set
    An understanding of SAN switch zoning
    Automation of tasks via bash, Perl, powershell or other scripting language.
    Understanding of factors affecting I/O performance in a replicated environment
    Ability to determine and manage risk
    Ability to overcome technical challenges on your own or with vendor assistance
    Good communication skills both verbal and written
    Proactive and capable of owning an issue to completion
    Ability to manage your own time with minimal oversight
    Desired Experience:

    EMC storage management tools: SYMCLI, VPLEX Management Console, Unisphere for VMAX or VNX, VCE Vision
    Infrastructure Performance & Monitoring tools – ViPR SRM, VI Virtual Wisdom
    System administration using Linux(Red Hat), ESX/VSphere, Windows, AIX, HP-UX, Solaris
    Provisioning of storage to hardware platforms such as IBM P7, Cisco UCS, Vblock and IBM Bladecenters.
    Data Domain, TSM, Netbackup, IBM Storwize, NetApp experience a plus
    Tivoli or other monitoring software
