Getting the Chemistry Right
I always wanted to work in the Pharmaceutical industry so when a position arose within Astellas I jumped at the opportunity and relocated to Kerry. I am now employed as a QC Chemist here in Astellas. I studied Nutrition and Health Science in Cork Institute of Technology and had worked within the food industry for two years.
I was a bit apprehensive about accepting a job in Killorglin at first as I didn’t know much about the area and most of my friends were living and working in Cork and Dublin. However, I am so happy that I made this decision as I have made so many friends through my work. I am now happily living in Dingle and working in Killorglin. Dingle is a busy town and it has a great social life, with lots to do. My commute to work has the most spectacular views!
Astellas is a multinational pharmaceutical company that produces lifesaving drugs and this makes my job very rewarding. I gain great experience in different aspects of science including lab analysis, documentation and good manufacturing practice. My role provides me with the opportunity to broaden my skillset and to be innovative. I work as part of the dissolution shift team but I also get the chance to work on my own on different projects within the company. Working in a supportive environment has helped me to learn and excel in my career.
